Coverboy Interview:

Call him the MacGyver of the gay world. Armed with only a passport and his self-confidence, U.K.-born Nigel loves seeking out new, exciting activities and can adapt to changing situations on the fly. A human-resources director by day, Nigel has a vibrant social life at night. Holding the title of Mr. DC Eagle 2013, this 38-year-old says his main platform is making the DC Eagle and the leather community accessible to everyone. In between helping raise money for Whitman-Walker Health – his charity of choice – and preparing for the International Mr. Leather (IML) contest in Chicago in May, this Mr. DC Eagle is an avid runner and fitness buff, having competed in 10 marathons, three triathlons and several other races.

What's on your nightstand?A lamp and my iPad.

What's in your nightstand drawer?A box of cufflinks, lube and a pair of workout gloves.

What are your television favorites?Dr. Who, The Rachel Maddow Show, and any witty, intellectual comedy.

What was your favorite cartoon when you were a kid? This might be a little too British, but Danger Mouse

What superhero would you be?Superman. I had such a huge crush on Christopher Reeve when I was younger.

Who's your greatest influence? My dad, and specifically his love of travel. He backpacked all across Europe. I've personally been all around the world. I don't need a lot of money to travel. I have no issue just showing up in a place. I'll figure my way around.

What's your greatest fear? Not having an impact on the world and dying alone.

Pick three people, living or dead, who you think would make the most fascinating dinner guests imaginable.Rachel Maddow. If I had the opportunity to meet her, I'd probably cum. Graham Norton, because I think he'd be a trip. And President Obama, because I think it'd be an interesting conversation.

What would you serve?Paleo-approved food. I'm a big advocate of the Paleo diet. I eat five-to-six times a day and I'm never hungry. You basically eat meat, raw vegetables, anything that would have been available to cavemen.

How would you describe your dream guy?Passionate – not just in bed, but about life. Meaning he has a cause, enthusiasm, something he believes in. Someone who loves to travel, likes fun, adventure. A guy who's not afraid to hold hands in public.

Define good in bed.Someone who appreciates that sex is not perfect or clean, and can roll over and be fine with being completely sweaty. It should be fun, not scripted or choreographed.

Who should star in a movie about your life?A good British actor who's not skinny. Let's say Ewan McGregor.

Who was your first celebrity crush?Christopher Reeve.

Who gets on your nerves?People who are ignorant about HIV and how it's spread, or use the word ''clean'' to try and disparage HIV-positive people.

If your home was burning, what's the first thing you'd grab while leaving? My laptop, because it's got all my photos of family and friends, important memories. Maybe I'd grab my phone as well.

What's your biggest turn-on?A smile, big shoulders and a laugh. Anything that expresses confidence, but not arrogance.

What's your biggest turn-off?People who take the whole gay/witty thing as an excuse to be vicious or attack others. And smokers.

What's something you've always wanted to do but haven't yet tried?Skydiving. It will probably be done by the end of this year.

What's something you've tried that you never want to do again?Buy a house in Florida prior to the biggest property boom and crash.

Boxers, briefs or other?Boxer-briefs. But I do love a good jockstrap, on myself and others.

Who's your favorite musical artist?Right now, Emeli Sande. I think she's wonderful.

What's your favorite website? The Rachel Maddow blog. I check it every morning. Also Facebook.

What's the most unusual place you've had sex?In an open-air amphitheater in a park in Brisbane that was viewable from a hotel with lots of balconies. The people on the balconies were shouting words of encouragement.

What's your favorite retail store? In the U.K., it's Next. In the United States, it's Guess.

What's the most you'll spend on a haircut?$30.

What about on shoes?I'm usually very frugal, but I did just blow $500 on a pair of Wesco Boss boots.

What's your favorite food to splurge with?Sushi. I really enjoy it.

What's your favorite season?Autumn. I love the fact that you can put on some layers, but still be out and about. It's the best time of the year for a runner, with a little nip in the air.

What kind of animal would you be?A dog. Dogs are loyal and they love unconditionally. If I had a chance to be reincarnated, I'd come back as a dog to a committed gay bear couple. I could get fed, walked and spoiled rotten by my owners.

What kind of plant would you be?I just don't have a green thumb. I even killed a cactus! So I'd have to be an evergreen or something that could survive.

What kind of car would you be?I'm not a car person. But just for the British edge, probably an Aston Martin.

What are you most grateful for?Great family, great friends and a life that never ceases to amaze me, with plenty of opportunities.

What's something you want more of?Work-life balance. Another four hours in the day would be nice.

State your life philosophy in 10 words or less. You only live once.
