''With Lena Lett commenting on people's outfits, I think it's going to be better than [watching] Joan Rivers,'' says Michael Fowler, co-chair of this year's ''Glamour, Glitter & Gold'' Oscar-night party at Town Danceboutique.

Town's patron drag queen returns to co-host this eighth annual spring fundraiser for The DC Center, the city's LGBT community center, alongside fellow Town drag queen Ba'naka, comedian ''Glo'' and Randy Shulman, editor of Metro Weekly, a co-founder and sponsor of the event.

The co-hosts will offer color commentary, as well as give out prizes, during commercial breaks in the Oscar broadcast. Town will create a special ''Oscar-tin''i for the night, and Reel Affirmations has partnered with The DC Center to host a silent auction featuring tickets to local stage productions.

''I'm excited to be able to watch the Oscars with these talented ladies and see what they come up with,'' adds Fowler, who's co-chairing the event with Holly Goldman. When it's pointed out that only one of the four co-hosts is a real lady, Fowler quips, ''I don't know if you're referring to Randy or Glo.''

The event, says Fowler, who serves on the board of The DC Center, ''is going to really help kick-start our campaign to raise funds for our move to the Reeves Center.'' Fowler says that move should happen by June. But before that occurs, the center needs to raise money for renovating the now-vacant space, which previously served as a bakery. Fowler hopes to raise at least $5,000 from the Oscar party.

While Fowler declines to share who he favors to win at the Oscars, he does allow, ''I'm really looking forward to seeing Adele perform.'' -- Doug Rule

Glamour, Glitter & Gold is Sunday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. at Town Danceboutique, 2009 8th NW. Tickets are $15 general admission, or $45 for VIP, which includes special seating, hors d'oeuvres and a swag bag including movie tickets and movie-related merchandise.
