Three people have been arrested for stabbing a local teenager multiple times on the evening of June 26, in what is thought to be a bias-motivated crime stemming from the teenager's assumed sexual orientation.
According to police incident reports, the victim, who is 16 years old, was attacked by three suspects and stabbed in the 600 block of T Street NW, in the city's Shaw neighborhood.
The witness who reported the crime told police that the three assailants had been yelling homophobic slurs during the assault. Police later arrested the three suspects a short while later, in the 1800 block of 7th Street NW.
Ali M. Jackson, Alvonica Jackson and Desmond Raimon Campbell each face one charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. They are scheduled to appear in D.C. Superior Court on June 29 and have been held without bond as they await a preliminary hearing.
UPDATE: The preliminary hearing for Ali M. Jackson, Alvonica Jackson and Desmond Raimon Campbell scheduled for June 29 was not held. Judge Patricia Broderick granted a mutual continuance and rescheduled the hearing for a date more acceptable to the U.S. Attorney’s office and the three suspects’ lawyers. All three alleged attackers have been ordered to avoid any contact with the victim in the case, and have been held without bond as they await a new preliminary hearing on July 5.
